The Art of Kanna

Freddie Dodson is the founder of Tatara Workshop, a carpentry studio dedicated to the Japanese craft of kanna. This is a traditional method of woodworking, using a special plaining tool to shape the furniture by hand. In this video, Freddie describes how he transformed a heavy slab of burr oak, left lying in an old wood store, into a beautiful table. The result is a unique item that forms the perfect centrepiece for a dining room.
